Listen to Voices: Larin Perry

Larin Perry Larin Perry was born in Vista Hermosa in 1948 and grew up in a "Latin" neighborhood with parents who immigrated to Panama from Costa Rica. After finishing high school he received a scholarship that allowed him to study at the University of Florida. After graduation, Larin worked as a policeman for INTERPOL, where he ultimately became a chief. Through his work he was able to travel extensively around the world, and visited Africa, Senegal, Brazil, Chile, France, the United States, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Today Larin is retired from the police force, but is happily working in the tourist industry. He sees himself as both black and Latino.
